🛠 About the product / Function

This Brabantia chafing dish is designed to keep serving dishes, pans or plates warm while dining at the table. Usually one or more tealights are placed underneath to provide gentle heat that keeps food at serving temperature.

Please note: a chafing dish is not intended to heat food, but only to keep already warm dishes warm.

A smaller version of this concept is the tealight warmer, a compact stand used to keep a teapot warm. This application is also the origin of the common nickname for the small candle used inside: the tealight.

This particular example is the later version of Model 2, where the candle snuffers are positioned at the front and back rather than on the sides.

🏭 Manufacturer & history

Brabantia was founded in 1919 in the North Brabant village of Aalst, North Brabant under the name Van Elderen & Co. The company began as a metal goods factory producing items such as milk strainers, buckets, funnels, watering cans and cigar tins.

From around 1941 onward the name Brabantia was adopted — derived from the Latin word for Brabant. In the following decades the company expanded internationally, establishing sales organizations in countries including Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Today the headquarters are located in Valkenswaard. Brabantia remains known for its functional and durable household products with timeless design.
