About Douwe Egberts
In 1753, Egbert Douwes and his wife Akke Thijsses opened their grocery store De Witte Os in the town of Joure. It was here that the foundation was laid for what would become one of the most iconic names in Dutch coffee and tea: Douwe Egberts.
In 1924, the brand introduced its now-classic savings point system, and ever since, Douwe Egberts has been known for its innovative approach to coffee—and for the collectible gift items that became a beloved feature in Dutch households.
