  • Manufacturer: P. De Ruijter & Zn BV-Baarn
  • Manufacturing date: 1985

Product description
Set of two vintage tins commemorating 125 years of De Ruijter's Chocolate Flakes Milk and Dark from 1985. These tins were crafted by P. de Gruijter and are a true nostalgic treasure. These two rectangular tins are part of a series of six, with these two being highly sought after.

Manufactured in 1985, these two tins were created as packaging for chocolate flakes and feature various illustrations. The cream-colored decor displays a coat of arms with lions on two sides and the lid, while two other sides showcase children in a summer scene and a winter landscape, surrounded by embellishments. The text proudly states: "P. de Ruijter & Zn BV Baarn 150 grams; chocolate flakes milk and dark."

In late 1974, there was a desire to tap into 'the good old days.' The Gestampte Muisjes® were temporarily packaged in their familiar round, yellow tin. It became a huge success, flying off the shelves. This success was surpassed in 1980 when it was announced that Princess Beatrix would succeed her mother, Queen Juliana. This was to be celebrated on April 30, 1980. A tin was designed featuring Queen Beatrix and Queen Juliana, and large quantities of orange hail were produced. During the 125th anniversary of De Ruijter, nostalgic tins were once again released, this time for chocolate flakes.

Condition
The condition of these vintage tins is good, with normal signs of use and age-related wear, as seen in the attached photos.

Dimensions
The dimensions are compact: 13 cm in height, 7 cm in length, and 7 cm in width.

De Ruijter
The history of De Ruijter dates back to 1860 when Cornelis Rutgerus De Ruijter opened a confectionery store in Baarn. The origin lay in the production and sale of birth mice, a tradition that evolved into the famous Gestampte Muisjes. With the slogan 'De Ruijter, the bread decorator since 1860,' the company has left its mark on the Dutch breakfast table. The pink and white mice, originally spelled as 'rose muisjes,' refer to the time of the first production, where 'roze' was spelled with an 's.'
