Description
Rectangular tin with loose lid. The decoration of the tin consists of a mint green / light blue background with the dark blue text on the sides in an orange frame: Verkade Biscuits - Zaandam Holland.

The lid shows an old-fashioned image of two dancing or playing children with a Verkade shop tin in the background.

The Verkade brand is stamped on the bottom of the tin.

Condition
This tin is in a vintage condition with traces of use and age-related traces of wear.

Verkade, a true Dutch brand.
Verkade was founded on May 2, 1886. Then Ericus Gerhardus Verkade opened his Steam, Bread and Rusk factory “De Ruyter”. The name “De Ruyter” was chosen with a bow to the past; the first flour mill in West Zaandam bore that name. The products of the first hour were; bread, rusk, honey gingerbread and Langetjes, later also the tea lights were added. “De Ruyter” is still recognizable in the logo of the Verkade brand. Over time, Verkade switched to making biscuits and chocolate.
