Description
The Grolsch swing lamp is an iconic lamp that was created in response to the cap of the characteristic swing bottle of the Dutch beer brand Grolsch. This funny bracket lamp made by Meccano in the 1990s with the logo of the Grolsch beer brand. The cap of the lamp is made of plastic in the colors white and red. The bracket itself is made of metal. Works with a small fitting (E14). A very nice collector's item. Made in the Netherlands.

The Grolsch bracket lamp is a unique item for the collector or for someone who is simply looking for a special lamp. Complete with cord, switch and plug.

Condition
This product is in a neat vintage condition with normal traces of use and age-related traces of wear. Photos are part of the description.

Grolsch is a beer brand that was first brewed in 1615 in Groenlo by Willem Neerfeldt. The name Grolsch is the adjective of Grol, the old name of Groenlo. The brewery is officially called Grolsche Bierbrouwerij.

The brewery is known for its swing-top bottle, which has been in use since 1897 and owes its name to Theo de Groen. When the crown cap gained popularity after the Second World War, he stubbornly stuck to the swing top bottle. The bottle has been modified many times, so the bottle got its current round appearance around 1963.

In 2008, Grolsch announced the end of the brown swing top bottle in the Netherlands. Instead, a new green swing-top bottle was introduced, based on the design of the new nozzle. More than 200 million bottles are made each year. The swing cap is nowadays made of plastic from a financial and environmental point of view (porcelain makes it difficult to recycle glass).
