A Mars is a popular chocolate bar produced by the American company Mars Inc. is being produced. The company produces several popular bars, including the MilkyWay and the Snickers. The terminology is not the same inside and outside the US.

The Mars as it is known outside the United States is a 9 centimeter long bar of approx. 51 grams. It is a crumbly chocolate, covered with caramel and coated with (solid) milk chocolate. The energy value is high: the wrapper states 1021 kilojoules. The packaging is black with the brand in red letters; years of marketing have turned this appearance into a strong and recognizable brand.

The bar is known in the United States as MilkyWay, while the bar called MilkyWay in Europe is baptized 3 Musketeers in the US. Until 2000, the US also had a bar called Mars.

The brand's marketing has been specifically aimed at young people for years. Advertising campaigns often show tired young people drawing their energy from the Mars. Sometimes (extreme) sports are also shown in commercials. The idea is that the high energy value of a Mars must be used to be active.

In Scotland they do sell fried Mars, where a Mars bar is fried in a batter.

A MilkyWay is a filled chocolate bar from the Mars Incorporated company. Milkyway is English for Milky Way.

The European MilkyWay consists of maltnoga with a chocolate layer.

In the United States, MilkyWay is produced according to the same recipe as the Mars bar in Europe. The MilkyWay was invented by Frank C. Mars in 1923 and was the first filled candy bar. In 1932, Frank C. Mars gave his son Forrest Mars $ 50,000 and the recipe for the MilkyWay bar he left for England to start his own candy bar business in Slough. He released the MilkyWay under the name Mars Bar and is available as such in Europe today. The European version of the MilkyWay (without caramel) is known in the US as 3 Musketeers.

There is also MilkyWay ice cream.
