Condition: Used vintage condition. A few fine linear marks are visible on the unglazed underside and interior. These do not appear to extend through to the exterior and may be related to the manufacturing or firing process.

The elephant is characterised by soft, flowing lines, with almost all anatomical details reduced to simple sculptural forms. The rounded ear is incorporated as a subtle relief, while the legs and body flow almost seamlessly into one another.

The glossy white glaze enhances its sculptural appearance and makes the figurine suitable for both modern and minimalist interiors as well as vintage-inspired settings.

🏭 Manufacturer & History

The design strongly resembles the ceramic elephant attributed to Peter Müller for Sgrafo Modern in West Germany. Marked original examples, however, feature a different construction on the underside, including a partially closed base with a factory mark.

This example has a different open underside and bears no visible Sgrafo marking. For that reason, there is insufficient evidence to attribute it as an original work by Peter Müller or Sgrafo Modern.
