🏭 Manufacturer & History

The Glim factory in Overschie (1918–1970) produced a range of household polishes and became a familiar name in Dutch homes thanks to its famous slogan:

“Be smart, use Glim.”

The company originated from the N.V. Oliefabriek Schiedam and quickly expanded. Its factory was a local landmark, prominently displaying the word GLIM on the façade. In 1970, the company was acquired by Koninklijke Zwanenberg-Organon and subsequently closed.

Distinctive Features

• Original “Wees slim, gebruik Glim” text design

• Decorative cranes, lanterns, and blossom motifs

• Equipped with hanging eyelet – can stand or hang

• Authentic Dutch advertising design from the 1920s–1930s

A striking collector’s piece for enthusiasts of vintage advertising, old tins, and early Dutch industrial design.
