Demis Roussos was born in Egypt as the son of Greek parents who lost everything after the Suez Crisis in 1956 and then returned to Greece. In Greece Roussos was a member of several groups such as The Idols, We Five and Aphrodite's Child before embarking on a solo career.
His solo career peaked in the seventies with a number of hits, including the singles My Friend the Wind and Forever And Ever (1973), which were high listed in different countries.
