🛠 About the product / Function

This tall square tea tin is a fine example of solid Dutch craftsmanship from the 1950s. It features an overlapping lid and a visible folded side seam, typical of the production techniques of the time.

The cream-white base combined with red borders and gold accents gives the tin a calm and elegant appearance. The embossed decorations depict atmospheric Oriental scenes, including fishermen, a temple, and a blossoming tree. The lid features a symbol often associated with prosperity and good fortune.

The hinge of the lid is defective, causing the lid to come loose. However, this does not diminish the decorative appeal or collectible value of the tin.

Niemeyer was founded in 1819 in Groningen as a trading company in colonial goods and grew into a well-known Dutch brand in tobacco, coffee, and tea.

The tin was produced by the Nederlands Vereenigde Blikfabrieken, a major player in the Dutch packaging industry. Over the course of the 20th century, Niemeyer developed into an internationally operating company.
