This elongated rectangular anniversary tin was produced to celebrate 25 years of De Spar. The decoration features orange and silver illustrations of bees, suns, roosters, fir trees and honeycombs against a green background.

The base shows two crossed flags with the De Spar logo and the inscription “25 jaar De Spar 1932–1957.” A design rich in symbolism – representing cooperation, growth, and post-war optimism.

De Spar was founded in 1932 by Adriaan van Well in the Netherlands. His idea of collaboration among independent shopkeepers led to a unique cooperative retail model. The name De Spar is often interpreted as an acronym for “Door Eendrachtig Samenwerken Profiteren Allen Regelmatig” – “Through united cooperation, all benefit regularly.”

The iconic fir-tree logo, later redesigned by industrial designer Raymond Loewy in 1968, became a globally recognized emblem. Today, De Spar operates in more than 40 countries, though its roots remain deeply grounded in Dutch retail history.
